Natural dyes on a Kalamkari yardage

Kalamkari does not hurry. Cloth is treated, drawn, dyed, washed, drawn again. The pen (kalam) is as much a tool as the block. We film these steps so the finished saree never looks like a print file. It is labour, chemistry and myth on cotton.
